Eagles fall to Mumford
The Milano Eagles (6-17, 2-6) fell 67-53 to Mumford in District 25-2A play on Friday at Geneva Paceley Gym. It was a close game after the first quarter with the Mustangs up just 21-18. Milano’s shots struggled in the second quarter, leaving the Eagles down 37-29 at halftime. Milano gained some ground in the third quarter, but were outscored 13-7 in the final period. Christian Thurman led the Eagles’ effort with 25 points on the night, with Hayden Weaver joining him in double digits with 10. Layne Telg scored eight points and Mason Westbrook collected
six. Arthur Soto and Weston Avrett recorded two points apiece. Milano had an open date on Tuesday night. The Eagles will play at 15 Hearne on Friday and host Milam County neighbor and No.14 Thorndale on Tuesday back at Geneva Paceley Gym.
Junior High Boys win Caldwell Tournament
The Cameron Junior High seventh and eighth grade boys’ basketball teams traveled to Caldwell over the weekend to compete in their final tournament of the season. Both teams remained undefeated in the tournament to bring home the title of tournament champions. The score for the eighth grade game one was Cameron 56, Hempstead 30. Young Yoemen scorers were J.W. Hollas with 16, Landen Greene with 14, Tracer Lopez and Dillan Akin each had eight, Vaughn Kostroun with six, Marino Cardona with three, and Andre Segovia with one. The score for eighth grade game two was Cameron 52, Anderson-Shiro 30. Young Yoemen scorers were J.W. Hollas with 17, Landen Greene with 12, Dillan Akin with 10, Tracer Lopez with six, Connor Jeter with three, and Marino Cardona and Andre Segovia with two each. The score for the seventh grade game one was Cameron 38, Hempstead 32. Young Yoemen scorers were Braylan Drake with 17, Brayden Williams with six, Kason Goolsby and Tavares Crittendon with four each, Ely Stork with three, and Ja’Quorius Hardman and Juan Pinon with two each. The score for the eighth grade game two was Cameron 37, Anderson-Shiro 27. Young Yoemen scorers were Kason Goolsby with 11, Braylan Drake with 10, Tavares Crittendon with nine, Brayden Williams with three, and Juan Pinon and Tray Bradley with two each. This brings the seventh grade record to 8-4 and the eighth grade record to 9-3. The Young Yoemen will continue district play Thursday Jan. 31 as they host the Rockdale Tigers.
Junior High girls take on Franklin
The Junior High Lady Yoe played Franklin on Jan. 24 at home. The scores are as follows. The 7A team lost 13-27. Scorers for the Lady Yoe were Seally Smith with 7 points and Camryn Ward with 6 points. The 8A team won 28-27. Scorers for the Lady Yoe were Sydni Smith with 18 points, Kartaya Bradley 4 points, Haley Tucker 4 points, and Sky Morningstar 2 points. The Lady Yoe will next play in Rockdale on Thursday, Jan. 31.
Lady Yoe fall to Lexington
The Lady Yoe fell to Lexington on Tuesday night 44-13 to remain winless in district. They will return to play against McGregor Friday night at home.
