Newly formed Milano/Gause Ag Booster Club looking for members

If you like to support area 4-H and FFA students, there is a new way you can do so. The newly formed Milano/ Gause Ag Booster Club is accepting new members. An active booster family has a fee of $50 per child and $25 for each additional child. Or, if you don’t have any children involved with any of the local livestock shows, there is an option to become a $25 honorary or individual member. The group’s next meeting will be held Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Milano High School cafeteria. For more information, contact Jess Miller at (979) 220-5410 or Kerry Silvey at (979) 324-4243. The next meeting for the Milano 4-H Club is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the Milano High School cafeteria. The Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s annual chili supper set for Feb. 16 at the fire station. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the fire station located on US 79. Meal costs are $8 for adults, $4 for children under age 12 and two and under eat free. Cost included drink and a dessert. There are also plans for live and silent auctions as well as live music. The event will conclude with the drawing of 10 big prizes for the group’s annual fundraiser at 7:30 p.m. the night of the event. Tickets for the annual drawing are now on sale and are$5 each or five for $20. Prizes include: two Henry Golden Boy 22 LR, two Taurus Public Defender .45/410, Remington 700, Marlin 336W 30-30, Remington 870 Shotgun, Ruger American Bolt Action 22 LR, Taurus 738 TCP 380 and $100 Academy gift card. A benefit ride is being organized for Gause resident and Milano graduate Dendy Brown for March 30 at Nat’s in Milano. In September 2018, Dendy was critically injured in an auto accident on the job and required multiple surgeries and transfusions as part of his medical treatment. He currently has to travel to Temple three times a week for wound care of his injuries. The fundraiser will include a motorcycle ride, with trikes, cars and trucks welcomed also, with ride fees of $20 per rider or $25 with a passenger. T-shirts are available by pre-order for $20 each and barbecue plates will be sold for $10 each. Donations are being accepted for the meal, live and silent auctions, as well as the event as a whole. Milano Elementary School is still collecting Box Tops for Education this school year and the deadline to get them in for this school year is quickly approaching. Those little coupons equal free money for our school and students. There is also a drop off box at the Milano Post Office or the Milano elementary and high school front offices.
