The Operation Round Up Trust Board recently presented checks totaling $23,750 to 14 non-profit organizations in the Heart of Texas Electric Cooperative service area. This included five area volunteer fire departments, two Meals on Wheels groups, two school groups, a community center, public library, and others whose aim is to improve the lives of our community members and neighbors. Community groups receiving funds include: Central Texas Meals on Wheels Falls County - $1,000; Central Texas Meals on Wheels Waco - $2,500; McGregor ISD Education Program - $500; McGregor Volunteer Fire Department - $2,500; McLennan County Community Resource Council - $250; Midway ISD Education Program - $500; Milano Volunteer Fire Department - $2,500; Minerva Volunteer Fire Department - $2,500; Robinson Volunteer Fire Department - $2,500; Rosebud Blue Santa Program - $500; Rosebud Parks and Recreation - $1,000; The Grove Community Center - $2,500; and The Marlin Public Library - $2,500. Operation Round Up is a voluntary program offered by Heart of Texas EC in which our members generously round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar. Every month, the additional pennies, nickels and dimes are added to a special fund and then dispersed by the Operation Round Up Trust Board to local non-profit organizations. Non-profit organizations that serve communities in the HOTEC service area may apply for funds each quarter and can be awarded up to $2,500 annually. Application deadline for the next quarter is Feb. 19. For organizations interested in applying for funds, visit the Heart of Texas EC website at: www.hotec.coop or contact our office located in Rosebud or McGregor at 800-840-2957.
