Cameron got excellent field position when the punt was blocked by Armando Reyes (6) to put the ball at the Orangefield 11-yard line. Cameron took advantage of that great field position and scored on a nice 7-yard touchdown run by Braylan Drake (1) for a 14-0 lead after a successful two-point conversion.

The offense had to return to the field because of a fumble recovered by Cameron. They would not take advantage of the fumble and the defense had to return to the field due to an interception thrown by Drake. The Yoemen went into halftime leading 21-7.

Cameron responded on offense on their next possession with a 21-yard touchdown catch by Mayer, his third of the game, to take a commanding 35-13 lead.
“On two of the touchdowns, the safety had a hard time getting over the top and that left Charlie open,” Coach Rick Rhoades said. “On his first touchdown, it was just a good throw and catch between Braylan and Charlie.”
Orangefield tried to answer back and marched down the field. The third quarter ended with Cameron ahead 35-13.

Orangefield would respond with a 46-yard touchdown pass on trick play to make the score 42-19 after failed a failed two point try. The Yoemen then began to drain the clock to win the game 42-19. The defense was outstanding, with a fumble, an interception, allowing under 100 yards passing, and allowing only 12 second half points.
“They did a great job of getting lined up correctly and then they really swarmed to the ball,” Rhoades said. “Our defensive staff did a great job of preparing our defense.”
Braylan Drake had a great game, throwing for 190 yards and four touchdowns along with rushing for a touchdown. Kardarius Bradley had a fantastic game, rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown. Charlie Mayer was unbelievable with five catches for 50 yards and three touchdowns. Trayjen Wilcox also had a great game. Along with an interception on defense, he had eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Up next for the Yoemen will be the Columbus Cardinals in the Regional round of the playoffs.
“It is pretty simple, we have to contain their offense and then execute and move the ball offensively,” Rhoades said. “We also need to win the special teams battle. If we can do all three of these things, I really like our chances.”
The game will be on Friday at Bastrop ISD Memorial Stadium and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
