Yoemen compete in 7-on-7
Last week, the Cameron Yoemen 7-on-7 football team competed in the state tournament hosted at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.
The Yoemen played three games on Thursday in the blistering summer heat and came out with a 2-1 record. The Yoemen opened up pool play on Thursday with three games. The first game was against the Columbus Cardinals. Cameron came up short in a narrow 24-21 loss to Columbus. Up next they took on the Jim Ned Indians. They came out strong and bounced back with a 34-14 win over Jim Ned.
Cameron played their final game of the day against the Wichita Falls Coyotes. The Yoemen finished the day on a high note and came up with a 40-25 win over the Coyotes. The Yoemen finished in second place in their pool and began single elimination championship bracket on Friday.
The Yoemen’s first game was against the Ponder Lions in the first round. Cameron fell short and was defeated by the Lions 41-28. The Yoemen hope to have that same fan and community support when the year starts up again in August as they hope to make a deep playoff run.
