Yoe, Lady Yoe track teams find success at 44 Farms Relays
The Yoe High track teams had a great showing at the 44 Farms Relays last Thursday.
The varsity girls placed third overall with 91 points.
Brandi Drake was the top individual scorer, taking gold in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Ciani Wilkerson took silver behind Drake in the 100-meter dash and Selene Vargas took bronze behind Drake in the 200-meter dash. Drake won another medal as part of the second place 4x100 relay team that also included Akasha Evans, Wilkerson, and Ashlee Balch. Daejanay Bell took gold in shot put, with Mia Wimmer third. Ja’Kerra Holt finished in second in the pole vault.
The varsity boys, with a depleted team due to several track stars taking off for the Texas Relays, finished in eighth place with just 27 points.
Callyn Harris was the only medalist, taking a gold medal in discus. The junior varsity boys dominated the meet by taking 130 points and finishing in first place. Gold medals went to Joseph Munoz in the 1600-meter run, Brent Wright in the 110-meter hurdles and triple jump, and Iverson Brazil in the 400-meter dash and long jump. Davarius Bynaum placed third in the 100-meter dash and Jimmy Balboa also picked up a bronze medal in the 800-meter run. Munoz followed up his gold medal run with a second place finish in the 3200-meter run. Jaidyn Sanchez took home silver behind Brazil in the long jump and Tate Stroud finished third in pole vault. The 4x100 relay with Davarius Bynaum, Sanchez, Phaibian Bynaum, and Randy Flores placed third, as did the 4x200 relay with both Bynaums, Sanchez, and Iverson Brazil.
The JV girls placed fifth overall with 63 points. Kyli Leftwich won the only gold medal, doing so in the 100-meter hurdles. She also took silver in the 300-meter hurdles. Jule Presier was second in the 400-meter dash and Patience Adcock finished third in the 800-meter run. T’Maja Oges was second in long jump and Aaliyah Fields was second in shot put.
