Yoe cowgirl headed for National Rodeo Championships this July

Yoe High student Brooklyn Balch just punched her ticket to the National Championship. 

Brooklyn qualified for the Texas High School Rodeo State Finals in Abilene by winning second place goat tyer in the Region 9 High School rodeos this past season.

While at the State Finals Brooklyn had three very impressive runs.  

Her first go round she tied her goat in 7.8 seconds and her second go round she tied her goat in 6.8 seconds.  These times brought her into the final round sitting first in the average out of 100 cowgirls from across the state.  She tied her final goat in an impressive 6.9 seconds with a total of 21.5 seconds on three to win the state championship.

Brooklyn will be representing Team Texas at the National High School Rodeo Finals in Lincoln, Neb., during the week of July 18-24.  

She will be competing against rodeo athletes from across the United States as well as Mexico and Australia.  

The Texas High School Rodeo Association is a 501-C non-profit organization, which is the largest, most prestigious state high school rodeo association in the nation. When you get involved with THSRA, you are supporting family values, dedicated young people and scholarships.

THSRA sponsors over 125 rodeos per year throughout ten regions across Texas. The rodeo year begins in August and concludes with the Texas High School Finals Rodeo in June. It is here, at the largest rodeo in the state of Texas, where “The Elite Compete” featuring the top cowboys and cowgirls from each Region. They compete for numerous awards, scholarships as well as the coveted honor of representing the State of Texas at the National High School Finals Rodeo held each July.
