Llanas ends wrestling season as alternate to State

Lady Yoe wrestler Judith Llanas ended the season as an alternate to State as the Yoe wrestling team finished the season with a good showing at the Regional Tournament last week. Llanas, a first year wrestler who served as the team’s manager last year, finished in fourth place in the 185-pound class and will be the alternate to the State competition. “The kids did really well,” Coach Dale Keen said. “We took seven and they won six matches during the competition. That is the most we have ever won.” Johnvanique Porter finished sixth after a triple overtime loss that excited everyone in the crowd. Seth Perez placed sixth in a tough class and Domonique Borgas finished in tenth. Keen said that Payton Aguillon won his first match of the day and Dylan Smith wrestled in a very tough class and did a good job. “We are doing well and moving up,” he said. “We need more wrestlers in order to get the practice in that we need.”
