Lady Yoe softball kicks off season with win

The Lady Yoe softball season kicked off Tuesday, Feb. 18, with a victory over Madisonville at Mark Humble Softball Field.

The ladies opened the 2020 season with a walk-off extra innings 6-5 victory over the Lady Mustangs.

The two teams exchanged single runs in the opening frame, before Cameron took a 3-2 lead after three innings. 

Both teams traded zeros until the seventh inning, when Madisonville finally broke through with three runs against Lady Yoe pitcher Cheyanne Spillers. 

Cameron was able to work some magic in the bottom half, answering with two runs to tie things up and send the game into extras. 

After Spillers shut down the Lady Mustangs in the top of the eighth, the Lady Yoe bats answered by loading the bases with two outs as Mia Wimmer delivered a walk-off single for the win.

Wimmer and Madison Brunson each had three RBIs in the game. Spillers went the distance and struck out eight on the night.
