Lady Yoe run rule McGregor
The Lady Yoe hosted the McGregor Lady Dogs on Tuesday, handily defeating McGregor 13-3 in five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Cameron got on the scoreboard first in the second inning, scoring two runs. In the top of the third inning, the Lady Dogs tied the score at two with two consecutive RBI doubles. The game was tied at two with Cameron batting in the bottom of the fourth inning when Camryn Ward doubled on a line drive to left field, scoring two runs. That was followed with another RBI double by Lauren Harris to go up 5-2. The Lady Yoe pulled away for good and scored eight runs in the fifth inning. The offense was led by singles from Tati Carillo, Diana Salomon, and Camryn Ward and two home runs by Kasara Brooks.
Cameron tallied 12 hits in the game. Tati Carillo, Diana Salomon, Camryn Ward, Zayda Spillers, and Kasara Brooks each racked up multiple hits for Cameron. Kasara Brooks led the team to victory by driving in five runs. Brooks went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in runs on a home run and a monstrous grand slam in the fifth inning.
The Lady Yoe defense was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sam Frausto was credited with the victory for Cameron. The righty went five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking zero.
The Lady Yoe went on the road to take on the Lexington Lady Eagles on Friday. The Lady Yoe were defeated 11-6.
Cameron fell behind early and couldn’t come back in their loss to Lexington. Cameron got on the scoreboard first in the first inning with a two run double by Kasara Brooks for a 2-0 lead. Lexington responded and took the lead with four runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Eagles scored another four runs in the third inning to go ahead of Cameron 8-2.
The Lady Yoe would score four runs in the last three innings, but it would not be enough to complete the comeback, falling 11-6. Cameron still racked up nine hits in the game. Sam Frausto and Brooklyn McCall each racked up multiple hits for the Lady Yoe. Frausto went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Zayda Spillers took the loss on the mound for Cameron. The righthander lasted six innings, allowing 12 hits and 11 runs, 10 of those runs being unearned, while striking out six.
Up next for the Lady Yoe will be a home game against the Rockdale Lady Tigers. The game will be on Friday and first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
