Five Yoe tracksters set for State Track Meet

Several Yoe High athletes are headed to the State Meet on May 10 in Austin.

Yoe Athletic Director Tommy Brashear reported that five athletes qualified for the State Meet after great performances a few weeks ago at Regionals.

Yoe sprinter Davion Bynaum coasted past the competition in the 100-meter dash setting a new meet record and breaking the record he set just a year ago.

Callyn Harris took silver in discus, setting a personal record in doing so.

Za’Korien Spikes took silver in the 200-meter dash to qualify as well.

Kadrian Hammond took bronze in triple jump, despite setting a personal best.

For the girls, freshman Brandi Drake took silver in the 100-meter dash and won gold in the 200-meter dash.

The Texas High School Coaches Association has named their Academic All-State track and field team.

The THSCA picked Yoe’s Callyn Harris to the Academic Elite team. For the ladies, Ashlee Balch, Brianna Collier, and Grace Kistler were each picked to the second team. Lauryn Leftwich and Morgan Shuffield were honorable mention.
