Thorndale Cross Country District Champs
The Thorndale cross country competed in the District 27-2A meet on Oct. 7. Both teams finished on top at the end of the day.
The girls team had a fantastic day and finished as district champs with a combined score of 28 points.
Raven Sandoval was the first runner to cross the finish line with a time of 13:28.90. Skielee Bear was right behind her in second with a time of 13:30.70. Nadia Gonzalez was right behind her in third with a time of 14:23.70. Emily Northcott was next, finishing tenth with a time of 15:24. Cheyenne Stevenson finished in 12th with a time of 15:36.20. Madison Espinoza was next, coming in 22nd with a time of 17:29.60. Kenlyn Talley was the last Thorndale runner to cross the finish line, finishing 28th with a time of 19:11.
The boys team also had a terrific day and finished as district champs with a combined score of 44 points.
Case McDaniel was the first runner to cross the finish line with a time of 19:54.90. Jaime Llanas was next coming in third with a time of 20:18.40. Andres Perez finished 11th with a time of 21:50.80. Jose Macias was next, finishing in 13th with a time of 22:09.30. Tayden Selucky finished in 16th with a time of 22:55.30. Jett Frei was next in 25th with a time of 24:27.70. Jake Fisher was the last Thorndale runner to cross the finish line, finishing 28th with a time of 24:38.
Up next, Thorndale will be competing in the Regional Meet. The meet will be on Monday, Oct. 21, in Corpus Christi.
