Christmas Tree Lighting planning ongoing
The planning has begun for the Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Highway 79 in Thorndale.
The committee will be meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays as needed. You are welcome to come to our next meeting on Monday, Oct. 18 at the Chamber building at 6 p.m.
This year with being COVID-19 aware we will not be gathering as a community for a lighting event. We are welcoming folks that have brought displays in the past to bring them and put them up to share the Christmas message. We are asking that your display be in place on the lot by Nov. 16.
The use of the lot has been donated many years by the owner, Dorothy Reimer. We are so sorry to announce that Dorothy passed away this year. We thank her son, Dorvin Handrick for the opportunity to continue the use of this really great place to decorate.
If you would like to donate towards this project please send donations to the Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce.
This year the committee has already received donations to cover the liability insurance on the lot.
Thanks to Ernest Melcher and Merrilyn Barton for your generous donations. All donations are greatly appreciated.
We also appreciate the use of the Lot downtown Thorndale for the Large Christmas Tree to be displayed. Our thanks go out to Stephen Niemtschk for the opportunity to use this lot.
We will work on lighting and arranging the trees and displays in the lot on designated days in October and November, so be watching the Champion for time and dates. If you have any questions please call Marilyn Johnson at (512) 862-4419 or(512)760-7606.
May God continue to guide us in our efforts!
