Yoemen fall to Troy in district match up
The Yoemen moved to 1-1 in district play after a loss to the Troy Trojans on Friday night at Yoe Field. Cameron was defeated by Troy, losing 35-17. The Yoemen got on the scoreboard first in the first quarter with a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Cade Hubnik for a 7-0 lead. Cameron extended their lead with a field goal by Homero Najera to make the score 10-0. Troy responded with a 73-yard touchdown pass to close the gap to 10-7, which would be the score at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was a very defensive quarter as both teams went scoreless, giving Cameron a 10-7 lead going into halftime. The Trojans charged ahead in the second half and never looked back. They outscored the Yoemen 28-7 in the second half to beat Cameron 35-17. With this loss, Cameron now has a record of 1-6 and a district record of 1-1. Next up for the Yoemen, they will travel to take on the Rockdale Tigers for the Battle Of the Bell. The game will be Friday, Oct. 25, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Above, Noah Vega gains yardage. At left, Cade Hubnik looks for an open receiver.
