Disaster declared over wildfire dangers

A disaster has been declared due to extreme drought and wildfire conditions across Texas. 

Governor Greg Abbott on Monday issued a disaster declaration for 191 Texas counties, including Bell, Burleson, Falls, Lee, Milam, Robertson, and Williamson Counties here in Central Texas. 

The declaration is in response to widespread wildfire activity across the state and will allow the state to surge the deployment of additional resources and assistance in the named counties currently experiencing dangerous wildfire conditions. 

The Texas A&M Forest Service said wildfire activity is expected to continue for the foreseeable future and the Wildland Fire Preparedness Level remains at Level 4. 

Texans are encouraged to make an emergency plan, limit activities that may cause sparks or flames, heed warnings from officials, and keep emergency supplies easily accessible.
