Three dead following crash
Three people are dead following a fiery crash after a pursuit on Thursday afternoon in Milam County.
According to Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore, on Thursday, Jan. 26, at approximately 3:49 p.m. a vehicle evading a Milam County Deputy at a high rate of speed, left the roadway and crashed south of CR 337 on Hwy 36/US190 on to private property.
Subsequent to the crash, the vehicle became fully engulfed.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Bryan Washko said 19-year-old Phabian Bynaum of Cameron was driving a 2015 Dodge Challenger southbound on US 190 at a high rate of speed. Clore said a Milam County deputy attempted a traffic stop on a traffic violation when the vehicle took off in an effort to elude authorities.
Investigators determined Bynaum attempted to pass another vehicle on the southbound shoulder when he left the roadway, lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes, crashed through a fence, struck a tree, and then overturned and burst into flames.
Bynaum and his two passengers, identified as 21-year-old Malik Ezekiel Thomas and 20-year-old Davarius Travon Bynaum, all of Cameron, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Milano Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to put out the blaze.
Cameron ISD indicated extra counselors will be at the district today.
The crash investigation is still active and open.
