Early voting continues, Election Day Tuesday
Early voting in the November General Election continues through Nov. 4.
Just about 3,800 people had cast ballots early as of Tuesday in Milam County.
Early voting will be held thru Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Milam County Clerk’s Office; and thru Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Buckholts Community Center, the Patterson Center in Rockdale, Thorndale VFW, and Gause ISD Library.
Election Day voting will take place from7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the Milam County Youth Expo, Cameron Housing Authority, Buckholts Community Center, the Patterson Center in Rockdale, Thorndale VFW, Milano VFD, and Gause VFD.
Texas voters will go to the polls to decide several key state races including governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, comptroller, land commissioner, agriculture commissioner and railroad commissioner.
Locally voters will decide between Republican Pete Sessions and Democrat Mary Jo Woods for District 17 U.S. Representative; Republican Charles Schwertner and Democrat Tommy Estes for State Senate District 5; and Republican Stan Gerdes, Democrat Madeline Eden and Independent Linda Curtis for State Rep for District 17.On the ballot, Milam County voters will make several statewide and regional selections. The US Rep for District 17 is between incumbent Republican Pete Sessions and Democrat Mary Jo Woods. Statewide offices on the ballot include Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller, Land Commissioner, Ag Commissioner, Railroad Commissioner, and several Supreme Court and Appeals Court justices. State Senate District 5 is between incumbent Republican Charles Schwertner and Libertarian Tommy Estes. State Rep District 17 is between Republican Stan Gerdes, Democrat Madeline Eden, and Independent Linda Curtis.
Unopposed candidates declared winners include County Judge Bill Whitmire, District Clerk Karen Berry, County Clerk Jodi Morgan, Sheriff Mike Clore, Treasurer Linda Acosta, Precinct 2 Commissioner James Denman, Precinct 4 Commissioner Wesley Payne, JPs Greg Hoelscher, Sam Berry, Andy Isaacs, and Garty Northcott, and Precinct 1 Constable Oscar Lopez.
Residents in Precinct 316 in Gause will choose up to four trustees to Gause ISD Board of Trustees from among Linda Hoppe, Mike Niklasch, Mike Griffin, Mike Hodges, W. Randy Grenwelge, and Chris Douglas. They will also decide on the purchase of attendance credit from the state with local tax revenues.
