Lady Yoe track team headed back to State

The defending State Champion Lady Yoe track team is headed back to the state meet.

The ladies wrapped up the regional meet over the weekend as the overall champions and now will head to Austin in a bid to repeat as State Champs.

Cameron saw the 4x400 relay with Lauren Harris, Camryn Ward, Brittani Drake, and Yierra Flemings finish second to advance.

The 4x200 relay with Crystal Daniels, Dayzsha Bradley, Harris, and Drake took gold to advance.

The 4x100 relay with Drake, sister Brandi Drake, Bradley, and Harris also won gold.

Flemings would also pick up first place finishes in the 400-meter and 100-meter. She won gold and set regional and school records in both the triple jump and long jump. Her triple jump of 39-feet and 1-inch broke a record she set just the week before in the area meet. Her long jump of 19-feet and 11-inches was more than a foot further than the previous school record set by Nikki Lopez.

Brandi Drake is also headed to state after a silver medal in the 100-meter.

Two of the Yoe boys will also move on to the state meet. Nathan Evans took silver in the 3,200-meter and gold in the 1600-meter.

Tracer Lopez finished second in the 300-meter hurdles and nearly broke the school record.
