Early voting continues for March Primary

Early voting continued this week at a brisk pace.

A grand total of 1,738 ballots have been cast so far, roughly 500 votes shy of the entire vote count for 2018 when only about 23 percent of registered voters went to the polls. 

Early voting will continue through this Friday at the County Clerk’s Office, Buckholts Community Center, Patterson Center, and Thorndale VFW. 

Election Day voting is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Cameron Housing Authority, Bea’s Kitchen, Milano fire station, Gause Fire Station, Thorndale VFW, Buckholts Community Center, and the Patterson Center. 

County races include a race for Milam County Judge between incumbent Steve Young and Bill Whitmire. 

The Precinct 2 Commissioner’s race includes Doug Baker, James Denman, and Wyatt “Dude” Ferris. 

The Precinct 4 Commissioner’s race is between Johnny Andrews and Wesley Payne.

Sitting Sheriff Mike Clore seeks his first full term in office. 

Unopposed candidates include incumbent Precinct 4 JP Gary Northcott, incumbent Precinct 3 JP Andy Isaacs, incumbent Precinct 2 JP Sam Berry, incumbent Precinct 1 JP Greg Hoelscher, incumbent County Treasurer Linda Acosta, incumbent District Clerk Karen Berry, and incumbent County Clerk Jodi Morgan. 

There are no candidates from the Democratic Party.
