Rutledge candidate for District 17 House seat
Trey Rutledge has announced his candidacy for Texas House of Representatives for District 17.
“I am a Marine Corps veteran and Texas A&M Aggie,” he said. “I am a Constitutional Conservative Republican running for the Texas House of Representatives for District 17.”
This district includes Bastrop, Burleson, Caldwell, Lee and Milam counties.
“I decided to run because I have always had a calling to serve my community and have been searching for an opportunity to do that since leaving the Marine Corps, as a Sergeant, in 2019,” he said. “During my time in the Marine Corps, I served as a Combat Engineer and deployed to both Kuwait and Iraq. My wife, Alexis, and I moved to Texas after my contract ended and I was honorably discharged. She is currently serving the United States Army Reserves.”
He now owns a small ranch in Lexington where he raises cattle, horses and goats. Both he and his wife are both active members in our local American Legion, Post 6, and the Young Americans for Freedom Chapter at Texas A&M University. They are also members of the National Rifle Association.
