Rockdale man sentenced for 2019 stabbing death

A Rockdale man landed a prison term for a 2019 stabbing death.

According to Milam County District Attorney Bill Torrey, 20th District Court Judge John Youngblood recently gave 27-year-old David Rodriguez Jr. a sentence of 18 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Torrey said Rodriguez had pleaded guilty to the second degree felony manslaughter.

Rodriguez was arrested in 2019 in connection to the death of Michael Jerone McDowell in Rockdale.

He was originally arrested for murder but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
