Slate set for March Primary Elections

The slate is set for the March 1 primary election.

Dec. 13 was the last day to file for the upcoming March Primary elections. Milam County Republican Party Chairman Warren Matous said incumbent Milam County Treasurer Linda Acosta filed Monday for her post. 

The March Primary will have a crowded ballot as voters select a county judge, sheriff, commissioners in precincts 2 and 4, a county clerk, a district clerk, and all four justices of the peace. 

Incumbent Milam County Judge Steve Young will face Milam County GOP Party Chairman Bill Whitmire for county judge. 

Filing in the race for Precinct 2 Commissioner were James Denman, Doug Baker, and Wyatt Dude Ferris. 

Filing in the race for Precinct 4 Commissioner were Wesley Payne and Johnny Andrews. 

Sitting Sheriff Mike Clore filed to run for his first full term and unopposed candidates so far include incumbent Precinct 4 JP Gary Northcott, incumbent Precinct 3 JP Andy Isaacs, incumbent Precinct 2 JP Sam Berry, incumbent Precinct 1 JP Greg Hoelscher, incumbent District Clerk Karen Berry, and incumbent County Clerk Jodi Morgan.
