Blessings From God Food pantry

The distribution dates for the Blessings From God Food Pantry are:  Nov. 23 from 8-9:30 a.m.; Dec. 7 and 21 from 8-9:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 1300 N. Austin in Cameron. They are still accepting donations, please call Franklin Glaser at (254) 455-0380 to donate. Mobile pantry will be at The Yards of Cameron every third Wednesday of the month. 

 

Bea’s Kitchen Meals

Bea’s Kitchen is still giving out frozen meals every other Thursday. If you would like to receive meals, please call (254) 697-2243 as the number has changed.

 

Yoe High Class of 2001

The C.H. Yoe Class of 2001 will hold their 20th class reunion at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Bob’s Steak house in the bar area. There will be food and alcohol available for individual purchase as desired, and no tickets are required.  The Pool Table and Big Screen Projector will be available for any College Football games airing that day. Feel free to bring the entire family so we can meet them all.

 

POSGD Directors

The Milam County Commissioners Court will fill three Board of Director positions on the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District when the Court convenes on December 13, 2021.  These positions are currently held by Sidney Youngblood, Dana McClaren and Ward Roddam who have all reapplied.  Anyone interested in being appointed to one of these positions by the Court should file a resume with the Milam County Judge no later than the close of business on Dec. 3, 2021. Anyone who wishes to be considered may also address the Court on Dec. 13, 2021.  The Court plans to take action to appoint the new Directors on Dec. 13, 2021.

 

Gause VFD Street Dance and Fish Fry

The Gause VFD and Ladies Auxiliary will host at Fall Street Dance and Fish Fry on Friday, Nov. 19 at the Gause VFD. Fish plates at 5 p.m. followed by a Street Dance featuring Southern Groove Band from 7:30-10 p.m. Family friendly community event. BYOB and BYOC. Tea and water available. Donations are appreciated.

 

Minerva VFD Pancake Supper

The Minerva VFD will hold a fundraiser Pancake Supper on Nov. 20 from 4-8 p.m. Tickets are $10. There will also be raffle tickets sold. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact any Minerva Volunteer Firefighter or Chief Ernie Glenn at (512) 365-0075.

 

SPJST Fundraiser

Buckholts SPJST Hall Lodge #15 will hold a fundraiser on Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. until sold out. Plates will be pork chops, gravy, hashbrown casserole, green beans, roll, dessert and tea. Cost is $12 a plate. Pick up or dine in. Cash or check only. All proceeds to towards the Buckholts SPJST Hall - Lodge 15.

 

Opening

Cornerstone MBC will have its official opening at 2 p.m. on Nov. 20. Come by and visit at 308 S. Houston. L.D. Marion Jr., pastor.

 

Thanksgiving food distribution

The Cameron Thrift Store will have our annual Thanksgiving food distribution event on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the thrift store from 9am until 2 p.m. To be eligible to receive food on that day prospective recipients must first pick up a ticket from the thrift store manager, from Nov. 2-18. The thrift store is located at 300 South Houston in Cameron, and is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

 

Pastor Celebration

Trinity New Life Worship Center presents Glorious Celebration honoring Pastor Charles Wyatt and Co-Pastor Charlotte Wyatt for six years of faithful service on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 3 p.m., 200 South Crockett Avenue in Cameron. Profound word given by Pastor Roy Brackins of Grace Tabernacle in Forest Hill. 

 

Rockdale retirees

Rockdale ALCOA Retirees will hold a meeting on Thursday, Dec. 9. The meeting will be held at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall ( formally known as the VFW Hall ). Doors open at 5 p.m. The business meeting begins at 5:45. A meal will follow the meeting. Donations towards hall rental will be accepted. Desserts will be all groups. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods for area food banks.

 

Christmas Memory

Mo’s Productions in collaboration with It’s Already Done Ministries and Real World Ministries present Christmas Memory on Friday, Dec. 10, at Shoemaker High School, 3302 Clear Creek Road in Killeen. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. General admission is $27. Tickets available at Eventbrite,

 

Story Time

Wednesday morning story time at the Cameron Public Library is at 10:30 on Wednesday mornings.  Stories, crafts, and play time with Ms. Elena. Call the library at (254) 697-2401 if you have questions.

 

Railroad Museum Closed

The Milam County Railroad Museum and Old Town Cameron is currently closed to the public. They are in the process of moving locations.

 

Recovery Services

Change 180 Christian Recovery, a free service, is held every Thursday at 7 p.m. at 204 S. Jefferson in Cameron. This is a self help group that focuses on addiction education. For information, email change180CR@gmail.com or call (254) 605-0039.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Praise and Worship Night

A special Praise and Worship Night will be held on the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Cameron.
