Lorena sweeps Lady Yoe out of playoffs
The Lady Yoe volleyball team ended their playoff run on Tuesday night at the hands of district foe Lorena in the regional quarterfinals.
The ladies defeated the Scurry-Rosser Lady Wildcats on Nov. 4 in the area round of the playoffs 3-1.
They won the first set 25-12, lost the second set 26-24, won the third set 25-23, and won the fourth set 28-26 to seal the victory and advance to the regional quarterfinals.
Ainsley Driska played amazing with 28 kills, Sydni Smith recorded five kills along with three digs, Haley Tucker had 20 kills and 16 digs, Kirsten Marin had 17 digs, and Kaly White was great as she had 13 digs and 56 assists.
The Lorena Lady Leopards swept the Lady Yoe on Tuesday night.
The first point of the first set went to Cameron. Lorena took the lead and Cameron fell behind 3-1. The deficit for the Lady Yoe became 8-4, then to 18-10. Cameron showed some fight as they scored two straight points for a score of 22-13, but Lorena prevailed and took the first set 25-13.
The first point of the second set went to Lorena. The Lady Yoe found themselves behind 8-5, but later got a kill on a tip in over the net by Sydni Smith (1) for a 14-10 game. The Lady Leopards continued to pile on as the deficit for Cameron grew to 20-12. The Lady Yoe got a kill from Ainsley Driska (4) for a 24-15 score but would still lose the second set 25-16.
The first point of the third set went to Lorena. Cameron got at kill from Driska for an early 2-1 lead. Set stayed even until Lorena took a 13-10 lead, then grew the deficit for Cameron to 20-12. The Lady Yoe tried to stay alive with a kill from Haley Tucker (6) for a 20-13 game. Cameron tried to rally back and did score two straight points to eventually make the score 23-18, but the Lady Yoe would fall short and lose the third set 25-20 which would end their fantastic season.
The ladies ended the season as District 19-AAA Runners-Up, Bi-District Champions, and Area Champions.
