CVFD banquet dedicated to Horelica’s service
The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department gathered Friday night to honor its members for their years of service and dedication to taking care of the Cameron community and Milam County.
The banquet was dedicated to Fire Chief Henry Horelica for his almost 40 years in service to the department.
Horelica joined the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department in March of 1972. He was hired by the City of Cameron on May 15, 1977. He attended the Temple Fire Academy in 1977.
He was the training officer for the CVFD for many years and then promoted to Assistant Chief. He became Fire Chief in 2001. He retired from the city earlier this year.
Horelica has served on the Milam County CERT Team and was a certified CPR instructor. He was an instructor at the Texas A&M Fire School for 19 years. He has served as the president of the Milam County Fire Chiefs Association for the past 27 years, as well as serving on the Central Texas Firemen’s and Fire Marshal’s Association in the Central Texas District.
Those honored with service pins during the banquet were: One Year Service - Billy Collier Jr., Michael Grider and Cole Robertson; Five Years Service - Tm Cheatham, Jamie Galvan, Joey Sumrall, and Shane Burnet; 10 Years of Service - Jonathan Mendoza, Ruth Canady, Dustin Thomas and Cody Horelica.
The department also gave appreciation certificates to the following: Mike Clore - Milam County Sheriff’s Office; Craig Arnold - City of Cameron; United Ag & Turf; Cliff Cryer - C&W Auto; Maurice and Vicki Goza and Ryan and Maria Battan - Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home; Robert Jekel - D&L Services; Lisa Roden - Rubac Insurance.
They also honored donors: First Finance, The Bling Box, Marion Cooley, Milam County Livestock and KMIL Radio.
