Travelers along US Highway 79 between Hearne and Gause have the opportunity to observe a serene little park which is beckoning them to pull over and rest.
In 1936 the Sarah McCalla Chapter DAR of Cameron created this park to commemorate the Texas State Centennial. The park also commemorates Old Nashville and historical events connected to Sterling C. Robertson’s colony.
Edward King, a Pflugerville boy scout, periodically replaces the American flag which flies majestically above the park. He then delivers the worn out flags to the VFW to be destroyed in a respectful manner.
Milam County residents are invited to visit the park and experience a bit of Milam County history.
