Lady Yoe fall to Fairfield in bi-district match-up
The Cameron Lady Yoe fell to the Fairfield Lady Eagles in the bi-district playoff round on Friday, Feb. 19, 89-31.
The Lady Yoe started off slow on both sides of the ball. They allowed Fairfield to score the first 18 points of the game and unfortunately surrendered some early turnovers. The first bucket for the Lady Yoe didn’t come until the four-minute of the first quarter mark by Kaly White (3).
Cameron started to show a better defensive effort later in the quarter. The Lady Yoe went into the first quarter trailing 35-9. Cameron came out of the break slow and out of sorts continuing with turnovers. The first point of the second quarter for Cameron was off a free throw by White. The Lady Yoes first basket came at the two-minute mark by Aliya Salazar (20) off an assist by Ja’Kerra Holt (10). Cameron went into halftime down 56-12.
The Lady Yoe played much better to start the second half, as they showed more aggressiveness on defense and played with more success on offense. Fairfield maintained their dominant performance and continued to extend the lead. Cameron trailed going into the fourth quarter 76-20.
Cameron started a mild surge of their own, scoring in the fourth quarter. The first buckets of the fourth quarter for the Lady Yoe were scored by Averee Wadlington (44) then White followed that with another basket in transition.
Cameron would go on to fall to Fairfield 89-31. Cameron is very proud of this team as they accomplished a lot of tremendous achievements this season in making the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
