Update on water availability and warming stations in county

Update from Sheriff White:

February 18, 2021 at 3:45 pm

It does not appear that we will receive the pallets of drinking water from the State today.  We were advised that the shipment can not get through from Dallas.  Due to the low temperatures expected tonight they are not optimistic that the shipment will arrive tomorrow either.  We are hopeful however that possibly this weekend we will see it arrive and we stand ready to move it as evenly as possible throughout the county communities for easy access.

Today we obtained two pallets of emergency water from the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department.  I have about fifty cases available at the Sheriff's Office for people who are in need - we are trying to disperse it one case per family.  I transported the second pallet to the Rockdale Police Department who will make it available or disperse the water to those in need throughout the Rockdale area.

Deputies delivered cases to elderly and home bound residents and several cases were delivered to the Thorndale Police Chief to address some needs there in his area.

I apologize if I got any hopes up with the water situation, but we will work to make it available as soon as we receive it.  Warming Centers - The Cowboy Church is still open, Street Ministries on Main Street in downtown Rockdale is open, Gause United Methodist is open and Bea's Kitchen in Cameron is open.  Thank you to all the volunteers and churches who have donated time, prayer, and food - you have really made a difference for people in need throughout our county.
