CPS Board looking for holiday angels

The Milam County Child Protective Services Board is again requesting your help to sponsor a child for Christmas.

The number of abused and neglected children in state conservatorship (Foster Care and Kinship Care) has increased once again this year, especially with all the stressors from the recent pandemic.

“We try to locate sponsors for each child who will be willing to spend approximately $125 or more to provide gifts for the Christmas holidays,” Jeanie Weed, CPS Chairman said. “If you are interested, you will be given a child’s first name, age, and a wish list that has been completed by the foster parent or caseworker. All of our children have suffered emotional abuse. Many have suffered physical and sexual abuse. All have been rejected by the very people who should have protected and loved them. Please help us provide as pleasant a Christmas as possible for our children.”

If you are not able to sponsor a child, the group would appreciate any monetary donation toward the care of our children. All donations go into a fund and are used to provide Christmas for the children in conservatorship and the children taken into conservatorship throughout the year.

If you would like to donate monetarily, you may mail your donation to Milam County CPS Board, P.O. Box 425, Rockdale, TX 76567. Please make checks out to Milam County CPS Board. The group can also pick up presents and monetary donations if you prefer. You can contact Jeanie Weed at (512) 446-2776 or Becky Ferrara at (432) 940-7653 for more information or to donate.
