Local ranch makes donation to Blessings From God Food Pantry

The Blessings From God Food Pantry got a big gift last weekend.

Cameron grass-fed beef producer Wild Type Ranch donated the processed and packaged ground beef from an entire cow to the food pantry on Saturday morning.

“In a gesture that gives something back to the Cameron community we at Wild Type Ranch felt strongly moved to help local families who are finding life to be challenging in these uncertain times,” Ralph Mitchell with Wild Type Farms said. “We have reached out to the Blessings From God Food Pantry to distribute this quality beef to families in Cameron.”

Approximately 200 pounds of the ground beef will be distributed in mid-September with the other 200 pounds to be distributed in time for Thanksgiving.

“This is not something that they can do on a regular basis, however Wild Type Ranch encourages other meat/food producers in the area to rise to the challenge of helping the Blessings From God Food Pantry make additional supplies of nourishing healthy food available to local families,” Mitchell said. “A team effort supplying healthy food in times of adversity is obviously a useful contribution in the interests of encouraging a more healthy community.”

Roy Martinez with the Blessings From God Food Pantry said they are very appreciative of the donation.

The food pantry is currently serving around 450 families a month.
