Milam Appraisal District to begin on-site inspections for 2020

The Milam Appraisal District is about to begin on-site property inspections for the 2020 Appraisal year.

Chief Appraiser Dyann White said appraisers will soon be in the field performing property inspections.

“Law requires the Appraisal District to accurately list and appraise all real estate in Milam County,” White said. “Property owners can assist the Appraisal District by providing access to their property when needed.”

Appraisers will always be in vehicles that are clearly marked with magnetic signs and yellow flashing lights. The appraiser will always have business cards and a state issued TDLR license that can be shown when requested.

The appraisers will never request that you allow them access inside any building. If measurements are needed, they will be taken from the exterior.

“In this day and age, we fully understand a person’s concern when a stranger comes to their property,” White said. “We want our site inspections to be a positive experience for the property owner as well as our staff. We make every effort to make ourselves visible. If anyone has concerns about a person that identifies themselves as an Appraisal District employee, please contact our office. Local law enforcement is also aware of the specific appraisers in an area and the vehicles they drive.”
