Brown Santa Golf Tournament to raise funds on July 20
Preparations for the 9th Annual Milam County Sheriff’s Office Brown Santa Golf Tournament are in full swing.
The golf tournament will be held at the Cameron Country Club on July 20 with 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. tee-times.
When the program was created in 2009, the late Sheriff David Greene’s vision for the Brown Santa program was to collect donations and money so that gifts and toys could be provided to children who would not otherwise get to experience a Christmas with toys on Christmas morning.
Sheriff Chris White said it is the honor of the Sheriff’s Office to continue that vision and keep this wonderful program going.
“The golf tournament is the program’s only organized fundraising event for the year and we thank everyone, every organization, and business who helps every year to make the fundraiser a huge success,” White said. “We also receive donations from people as we get closer to the Christmas Season and it is truly a blessing to receive these gifts from so many generous people throughout Milam County.”
Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation can visit any Classic Bank location in Milam County or the golf tournament website and donate online. The website is www.birdeasepro.com/brownsantagolf
“We hope the online signup format will make it easier and more efficient for our players and donors,” White said. “There are three different options for signing up to play in the golf tournament, as well making donations, hole-sponsorships, and a free online payment option.”
During the tournament there will be free breakfast tacos in the morning and free sausage wraps and water throughout the day.
There will also be “Longest Drive”, “Most Accurate” and “Closest to the Pin” challenges during the course of play. Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place teams, as well as the winners of the challenges.
There will be a live auction at 1 p.m. and a silent auction throughout the event.
