Lady Yoe fall to McGregor, Lexington
The Lady Yoe have had two hard games against district opponents. They fell to McGregor 45-20 on Tuesday night and Lexington 55-17 on Jan. 4. Scoring for the Lady Yoe were Savannah Bynaum with two, Ja’Kerra Holt with three, Lauryn Leftwich with six, Brianna Collier with two, and Averee Wadlington with seven. They will be back in action against Academy on Friday night at Yoe Gym and will host rival Rockdale on Jan. 14.
Eagles fall to Hearne
The Milano Eagles (5-13, 1-2) fell 73-51 to No. 14 Hearne on Tuesday night at Geneva Paceley Gym. Eagles head coach Kyle Edwards said that despite the loss, the team showed improvement. “We competed well against a very good team. I was pleased with the effort,” Coach Edwards said. Christian Thurman scored 16 points to lead the Eagles’ effort. Hayden Weaver also scored in double figures with 11 points. Mason Westbrook recorded nine points, with Layne Telg adding six and Arthur Soto five. Christopher Sootoo and Cordell Spears put up two points apiece. The Eagles fell to Flatonia 64-33 in a non-district road game on Jan. 3. Milano will play at No. 19 Thorndale on Friday and at Thrall on Tuesday.
Yoe Invitational Soccer Tournament
Cameron will host the Yoe Invitational Soccer Tournament beginning today at Yoe Field. The tournament will run through Saturday, Jan. 12. The Yoemen will start tournament play against Caldwell at 2:15 p.m. today. The Lady Yoe will begin tournament play against Caldwell at 6 p.m. today. They Yoemen are set for other tournament action against Florence on Friday at 6 p.m. and Marlin 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Lady Yoe will take on Florence at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and Yoakum at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. See the complete game schedule above.
