Williams appointed to CISD board
The Cameron ISD School Board is now at full capacity again.
The CISD Board of Trustees appointed Annisha Williams to the vacant spot left by Greg Hoelscher during a meeting June 14.
Williams will serve on the board until next May’s election when there will be a special election to fill the seat, which she will have the opportunity to run for.
Hoelscher stepped down from the board in May due to a new state mandate saying he could not serve as Justice of the Peace and serve on the school board at the same time.
The board had five applicants to fill the spot after announcing it would be open in May.
During the meeting the board also reorganized, but the leadership stayed the same with Jason Dohnalik being elected to serve as president, James Burks as vice president and Franci Denio as secretary.
During the meeting the board also honored Yoe High students for their participation at the state level.
The Lady Yoe track team was honored for winning the 3A State Championship in May. They were also district, regional, area team winners. Team members and coaches were Coach Dale Keen, Logan Pevehouse, Ja’Kerra Holt, Brittani Drake, Brandi Drake, Lauren Harris, Seally Smith and Yierra Flemings and Coaches Kayla Janicek and Stephanie Hause.
Colby Barton competed in UIL Current Issues and Events winning third place at regionals to advance to state in May. He finished in the top 10 at the state competition.
The Yoe FFA Agriculture, Technology and Mechanical Systems team competed at the state competition after winning at the area level. Team members were Mason Leifeste, Henry Hubnik, J.W. Minatrea and Joseph Barbo.
In other business the board also: approved a new credit card program to pay for travel and signed an MOU with Temple College for dual credit programs.
