Original story:

The Milam County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office will not be open to the public for the next week.

In an announcement today Tax Assessor-Collector Shery Mueck said the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak has caused widespread disruption around the world and here at home. The Milam County Tax Assessor-Collector along with the Milam County Judge, believe it is our role and responsibility to continue providing essential government services while implementing preventative measures to ensure the health of the public and our employees during this time.

The Rockdale Substation of the Tax Office will be closed March 16 thru March 23.

The Cameron office will also be closed to the public, but Tax Office staff will remain in office to process mail and phone calls for Taxes, Vehicle Registration, and Title Transfers. You may also go online at www.txdmv.gov to renew your vehicle registration.

The Cameron office also has a drop box where you may drop office tax payments and vehicle registration. For title transfers it is asked that you call the Cameron Office at (254) 697-7017 from Tuesday, March 17, thru Friday, March 20, to discuss procedures for drop off and pick up. At this time we will only be accepting credit or debit cards, checks and or money orders. No cash.

The Tax Assessor-Collector and the County Judge will review the situation again by Friday, March 20, to see if an extension for closure will be needed and we will inform the public at that time.
