Update from Sheriff Chris White

From Milam County Sheriff Chris White:

February 16, 2021 at 07:30 am

Milam County is facing another 48 hours of sub-freezing temperatures.  Please let us know if you are concerned for any elderly persons or families that may be without power or proper heat.  My deputies and I are prepared to check on them and get them to safe areas or warming centers if needed.  Call 254-697-7033 if you know of someone in need or who may be in need.

The Milam County Cowboy Church and the Gause Methodist Church have advised us of their availability as warming centers.  The Cameron First Baptist Church donated numerous blankets for delivery or pickup for anyone who would need additional blankets (we have 3 left)  The Sheriff's Office has four-wheel drive capable vehicles to allow safer travel or transport for families in need and we stand ready to assist.

Additionally, we can formulate a plan for additional space if those locations start to fill.
