Three new cases of COVID-19 announced

Milam County Judge Steve Young announced three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county on Wednesday afternoon.

With the new cases, Milam County now has 32 total cases.

One of the new cases had tested positive in another county, but their address was incorrectly listed. That case has already completed self-quarantine and is considered recovered.

The other two cases contracted the virus through community spread and are currently in self-quarantine.

The Milam County Health Department is now conducting contact investigations.

The Milam County Health Department announced on Tuesday morning that all but two cases are recovered from the virus and that nine people are currently being monitored. That was before these last three cases were announced.

The county has had six hospitalizations and one fatality thanks to the virus.

Young reminds everyone to be safe if you get out to do things.

“Keep distance from others, wear a face mask when out in public, wash and sanitize your hands,” he said.
