Three dead following Tuesday crash

Three people are dead following a fiery crash on US 77 Tuesday afternoon in Milam County.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, Milam County deputies, and Cameron Volunteer Fire Department responded about 2:17 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, to US 77 at FM 1963 for the major two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler.

At least three people died in the crash, including two adults and a young child.

According to DPS Sgt. Bryan Washko, a passenger car with two adults and a young child was northbound on US 77 when it left the roadway on the right side for unknown reasons. That car then overcorrected and veered into the path of an oncoming southbound 18-wheeler.

The crash caused the passenger car to burst into flames.

Names of the victims have not been released. This investigation remains ongoing.
