School districts provide meals while closures go on

Several school districts throughout Milam County have announced plans to serve meals to children while classes are cancelled.

Cameron ISD

District leadership has been handing out grab-and-go meals at four locations throughout the district since Tuesday. Any Pre-K through 12th-grade student can get a meal from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Simon George Hall, CES/CJH, YHS or OJ Thomas. The child needs to be present to get the meal.

The district also sent out a survey to help with meal head counts and to establish which homes have access to Internet service. You can find that survey at https://tinyurl.com/Yoemeals

Milano ISD

Milano ISD is participating in the Food Service Program to get meals to our children in this time of the district closure.

Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

Meals will be provided, at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows: Milano JR High/High Student Drop Off Line - breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Delivery to students that do not have transportation that live in the Milano ISD School District may be able to be arranged by contacting Milano ISD at (512) 455-9333.

Milano ISD is striving to keep our children fed and safe during this stressing time.

Gause ISD

Gause has decided to be closed March 23-27 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gause ISD announced Tuesday it would be closed at least through March 27, with the possibility of being closed longer.

They are providing grab-and-go lunches beginning today from 11 a.m. to noon. They can be picked up at the back entrance to the school across from the library. Teachers will be calling students to order lunches.

On Friday, March 20, there will be learning packets available to be picked up in the gym parking lot between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Parents will also receive the lunch you ordered at that time. If you are unable to pick up the packets at that time, please make other arrangements with the district.
