Man dies after collapsing on county road
A man passed away after collapsing on June 12 along a roadway in the county.
Milam County Sheriff Chris White said on Friday, June 12, at approximately 9:50 a.m., deputies assisted AMR for a medical call south of Thorndale on County Road 450.
The original caller reported that a person was found laying in front of a property gate having trouble breathing in the 1200 block of County Road 450.
The subject was transported to a hospital in Round Rock by AMR when his medical condition became worse and he became un-responsive. A few hours later the hospital contacted the Sheriff’s Office to advise that the subject brought to them had died, but they had not been able to identify who he was.
Deputies checked a backpack and belongings they had recovered at the medical scene, however there was no identification information found.
A Williamson County forensics team was called in to the hospital and they were able to determine the identity of the man based on his fingerprints.
The subject was identified as Hans Oliver Tweeten, a 38-year-old white male originally of Austin.
“An autopsy has been ordered by the Justice of the Peace in Round Rock to assist our investigation in trying to determine what exactly happened to Mr. Tweeten,” White said. “Investigators later determined that Tweeten was staying with a friend about half a mile further down the road from where he had collapsed. At that location investigators recovered Tweeten’s wallet and ID and were informed that he had also worked at the Dollar Store in Thorndale.”
Preliminary results of the autopsy could take a few more days to receive and toxicology information could take up to 12 weeks to receive. However doctors who had treated and tried to save Tweeten indicated that there were no visible signs of trauma but they could not conclude what had caused his death.
