Junior Engineer Club to begin at Railroad Museum
The Milam County Junior Engineer Club will begin registration on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Milam County Railroad Museum, 110 W. 1st Street in Cameron.
Junior Engineers must bring a parent or guardian to register. This is a model railroad club for kids 10-18 years of age. Membership is free.
Meetings will be held the fourth Saturday of every month. They will be an hour and a half long.
Junior Engineers will be instructed on how to run the trains on the Old Town Cameron layout. After the Engineers complete a checkdown on engineering, they will receive their “Jr. Engineer Pin.”
Any time they come to the museum and are wearing their pin, they may take the throttle of a train on the layout.
In addition, club members will receive instruction on how to build their own train layout while they a getting “hands on” experience building their club’s train layout in our classroom. Engineers will also get priority enrollment in our Junior Engineer Summer Camp in June. They must register in January or February and attend no less than three class meetings to get priority.
There will be lots of fun, activities, and experience. The club is open to boys and girls.
