Four juveniles arrested for stealing car Sunday morning
Several juveniles are suspected of trying to steal a car early Sunday morning in Cameron. According to the Cameron Police Department, at 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 27 officers were notified of a burglary of a motor vehicle in progress.
The suspects fled the scene in a silver Chevrolet Impala. Shortly after Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Michael McHale located a vehicle matching that description at the CEFCO at 1005 East 1st Street in Cameron. As McHale attempted to make contact with the suspect vehicle, the suspect vehicle fled the scene. McHale began pursuit of the vehicle assisted by Cameron Police Officers Andrea Murray and Shelia Sager.
After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle wrecked at the corner of 4th and Scott Street near the Cameron Family Dollar store.
According to police, the vehicle was occupied by four suspects. Three male suspects were detained at the scene and the fourth suspect escaped on foot. Of the four suspects, three were identified as juveniles.
One juvenile was detained and charged by DPS for evading arrest in a motor vehicle. Two juveniles were detained by Cameron Police for burglary of a motor vehicle and engaging in organized criminal activity. The juvenile suspect detained by DPS will also face charges for burglary of a motor vehicle and engaging in organized criminal activity. The fourth suspect is still at large.
