The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department responded about 8:45 a.m. this morning to a trailer house on fire in the 1600 block of CR 218.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming out of the structure. The blaze started on the back porch, went through the wall and into the middle of the home, where it burned up much of the center of the structure.
Cameron Fire Chief Henry Horelica said the female occupant of the home was there when the fire started and was able to escape unharmed. A cat died in the fire.
The Red Cross has been called in to assist.
Horelica said that while the home is a total loss, the resident was able to save some things from other areas that were not destroyed. The fire is believed to have started where a fridge was plugged into an outlet on the back porch.
