Denman wins race for Precinct 2 Commissioner

Precinct 2 voters elected James Denman to serve as commissioner in a runoff race on May 24.

Denman received 339 votes to challenger Doug Baker’s 209 votes.

Denman will join newly-elected Precinct 4 Commissioner Wesley Payne and County Judge Bill Whitmire on the court in January, as none of them will have challengers in November.

District 17 Republican voters elected Stan Gerdes to run for the State Representative spot in November. He won with 51.27 percent of the vote to Paul Pape’s 48.73 percent.

He will face Democrat Madeline Eden in November.

In statewide Republican runoff results Milam County went with the rest of the state in choosing incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton for the ballot in November along with Dawn Buckingham for Land Commissioner, and Wayne Christian for Railroad Commissioner.

In statement Democrat runoff results for Milam County went with the rest of the state in choosing Jay Kleberg for Land Commissioner, Mike Collier for Lieutenant Governor, Rochelle Garza for Attorney General, and Janet Dudding for Comptroller.
