County to get infusion center

Milam County will have an infusion center to fight COVID-19 soon.

County Judge Steve Young announced Monday the center will begin Nov. 1.

"We have been working for weeks to get an infusion center in the county," Young said. "Effective, Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 we will have a mobile infusion unit in the county, which will be located at the former Rockdale Hospital. Monoclonal antibody infusions have proven to be 70 percent effective to prevent an infected person from being hospitalized, if the infusion is given within 4-5 days of infection. The infusion must be prescribed by a treating medical provider."

For those in Milam County and surrounding counties an infusion will now be much more accessible.
