County announces second COVID -19 case
Milam County now has its second case of COVID-19.
Milam County Judge Steve Young announced this morning that a second person from Milam County has now tested positive for COVID-19. The person was tested Friday and results have just now been returned.
The person in question has been hospitalized.
Young said the person will be interviewed and a history taken with regard to people they have come in contact with. Anyone that has been in contact with this person will be contacted by the Milam County Health Department.
Last week, Young confirmed that a person located centrally in the county had tested positive and was under quarantine and self-isolation. That person was expected to recover.
Young will address the county at 2:30 p.m. today (March 23) on Facebook Live.
During this morning’s Commissioners Court meeting the commissioners extended the disaster order until May 4, another six weeks.
He said that can be cancelled at any time should the need for it no longer exists.
The time for the curfew for those younger than 17 is now from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
“We are doing everything we can to keep you posted, but please know that this is a very dangerous situation,” Young said. “The only thing we can do to help our self is to prevent the spread of the virus. The best way to prevent the spread is to stay home.”
