Coufal indicted for mother's murder

The Milam County Grand Jury has indicted Colton Coufal for the murder of his mother, Christi Warrick Coufal, in December of 2021.

According to the Milam County District Attorney's Office, Coufal, 27, of Cameron, was indicted by the Milam County Grand Jury today, June 14, for First Degree Felony, Murder. He was indicted for the murder of his mother, Christi Warrick Coufal, on Dec. 5, 2021.

This matter was presented to the Grand Jury by the Milam County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers.

This case is being prosecuted by District Attorney, Bill Torrey.

On Dec. 5, 2021, at approx 7:52 a.m., The Milam County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person. An investigation into the missing person began. Later, at approximately 10:48 a.m. on the same day, MCSO received a report of a lifeless person in the San Gabriel River, approximately 15 miles away. That body was determined to be Coufal.

An extensive investigation pursued.
