West announces retirement as Precinct 2 Constable

Milam County Precinct 2 Constable Charlie West announced this week that he will not seek a fourth term as constable in the March 2024 primary.

West first served Milam County as a deputy sheriff in 1977, serving in that role until 1995 when he was appointed as Sheriff. He remained Sheriff until 2008 as he did not seek a 4th term and retired. He returned to service in 2011 when he was appointed as Precinct 2 Constable, a term which he holds today and will retire from upon completion of his term next year.

“I would like to thank all of the citizens of Milam County for their support through all these many years,” West said. “I have been truly blessed by having the opportunity to serve you the citizens of Milam County. I will miss serving in this capacity but feel it’s time I retire.”
