Voter turnout could set record in county
Early voting for the November election continues today and Friday, with election day being Nov. 5.
As of Monday 7,316 people in Milam County have voted. That is already around 40 percent of voters.
There are no contested local races in the November election, but national races for President and Senate should bring people to the polls across the county.
The biggest election on the ticket will be for President and Vice President. Democratic nominee Kamala Harris will face off against Republican nominee Donald J. Trump. Libertarian Chase Oliver and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are also on the ballot.
In the race for Texas Senator, incumbent Ted Cruz (R) will face off against Colin Allred (D) and Ted Brown (L).
Incumbent District 17 U.S. Representative Pete Sessions (R) will also face Mark Lorenzen (D).
Incumbent District 17 State Representative Stan Gerdes (R) will face off against Desiree Venable (D) for that spot in the Texas House.
There are several other statewide races including Railroad Commissioner and several judge positions, as well as a race for State Board of Education, District 10.
Early voting will run through Nov. 1 in Milam County.
Early voting locations across the county are: Milam County Annex, 806 N. Crockett in Cameron; George Hill Patterson Center, 609 Mills Street in Rockdale; Buckholts Community Center, 110 W. Main Street in Buckholts; and Thorndale VFW, 304 E. Moerbe in Thorndale.
Early voting at the County Annex will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
Early voting at all other locations in the county will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day Nov. 5.
Voting locations for Election Day are: Family Life Center, 112 N. Travis Ave. in Cameron; Cameron Housing Authority, 704 W. 6th Street in Cameron; Buckholts Community Center, 110 W. Main in Buckholts; George Hill Patterson Center, 609 Mills Street in Rockdale; Thorndale VFW, 302 Moerbe Street in Thorndale; Milano VFD, 305 US 79 in Milano; and Gause VFD, 110 US 79 in Gause.
