Donation to fund HOP

Milam County Commissioners unanimously accepted a $60,000 donation from solar farm company SB Energy to help continue the HOP transit service here in the county during its meeting on Monday. The $60,000 amount is the same amount of funding the county had sought from the Cities of Cameron and Rockdale and the Cameron and Rockdale school districts. Commissioners had previously approved paying to keep the service up and running but were going to have to move money around in their budget to cover the entire cost. Thanks to the donation, moving money around will no longer be needed.
